Back when I first started painting, I was invited to an art opening at a coffee shop. A friend had convinced me to check out the place, since she thought that I might like to show my paintings there one day. I was so new at painting, I was pretty sure my art wouldn’t be “good enough”. I agreed to quietly go and see. When I got there, I was stunned to see a series of framed stick figures painted on wooden panels, hanging on all the walls. Milling about the room were dozens of smiling people holding wine glasses. There were also lots of red “sold” dots on the art.I just blinked at everything a couple times and thought maybe I could show my art here, after all. The stickman painter called himself an artist, and he did me a great favor that day.I get it now: You paint to express, because you have something to say, and your voice deserves a mode of transportation in order to express. Hence my tag line, "It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be expressed!"If you need a nudge and some handy Emotional Freedom Techniques to help you along, my 125 page ebook is now available on Amazon!

About
I've been painting since 2005, and for the first 3 years, painting, for me, expressed the otherwise inexpressible—vague feelings, people, places, and colors that had played in my head for years, that until brush met canvas, I could never quite put my finger on.A few years later, finding a stash of vintage family photos set my heart on fire! Thankfully, not literally hahaha. I saw a wealth of material to 'draw from' that had everything: the vintage styles I was painting anyway, the romance of captured time, and mostly, relatable human nature that 'progress' can't touch. So I set about painting my olden family, and while staring deeply into these faces for contour, light, and shading, a surprising, wistful intimacy became evident, as I felt like I was 'meeting' them, in a way.As it turns out, my fascination with vintage photos crosses into other peoples' families, and one of my bitter-sweetest moments is finding scattered, long-lost, family photos at the flea market. It moves me to see them discarded, and my purse is often full of old folks I can't wait to go home and paint!"Life has a way of steering my paintings in subtle directions, as the internal and external landscape evolves. I suspect sometimes that the paintings lead, and life follows. I am keenly interested to see where the paint takes me next.
